Celebrating The Joy Roses Bring – Weekend Smiles

It was a great weekend in the garden. Despite the threat of bad weather on Saturday, we had a number of people stop by to see the roses.

Mr. & Mrs. Rigg of Helena, AL stopped to see our roses. Mrs. Rigg and I worked together for years at the bank and they are now enjoy the happy bliss of retirement. It was great to see them both.

Mitzi is a Master Gardener who lives in our neighborhood and loves all things growing. She really loved the yellow blooms of David Austin’s “Golden Celebration” English Roses.

Local photographer Terry McCombs stopped by to take a few shots of our roses and for a visit. Terry was my first friend in Alabama when we moved here 12 years ago. He loves taking pictures as much as I love growing roses!

Today was our neighborhood associations annual clean up day and block party. Large dumpsters are brought in to haul our junk away and the block party is a great way to see neighbors and friends that you haven’t seen all winter… I made up this bouquet of blooms to take to the block party.

It was a fun day!

  2. It does sound like a great day Rev. If I might ask, what is the stripped rose at the lower left? It doesn’t look like Variegata or Ferdinand. Scentimental?
