>Veteran’s Honor – For Father’s Day

>

Today I purchased a rose that has long been held in high esteem among many rose enthusiasts; Veteran’s Honor. This rose has graced many a Queen’s table at all the rose shows I have attended. With this rose taking Queen of the Show this year at the Birmingham Rose Show, I knew I had to have one of my own. I used well rotted manure and some humus along with some fresh garden soil to help get this rose growing.

I am steadily running out of room anymore roses. I have already relocated a hydrangea and now an azalea to accommodate my previous plantings this year. I need to go ahead and plow up that section in the center of my back yard. I can get at least 5-7 more rose bushes in that spot.

My dad never served in the armed services due to a heart ailment, but my father-in-law did. I am grateful to him and all those who are willing to lay their lives on the line to provide the warm blanket of protection and freedom that we all enjoy in the United States. This rose will serve as a reminder to me that Freedom is never free.
