>Birmingham Rose Society Meeting

>The April meeting of the Birmingham Rose Society was held tonight. We had a good speaker from the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service who spoke about the benefits of good soil. We also had a lot of discussion about the upcoming show.

The 57th annual Rose Show will be held May 9th and 10th at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Entries in the show will be recieved on Saturday morning from 6 – 10:30 a.m.
The judging will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at which point the show will be opened to the public. I have attended the last three and enjoyed each of them immensely. I will be helping out this year, clerking with the judges and doing whatever else that needs to be done. I am looking forward to it.

We also had a report on the Spring Plant Sale to benefit the Gardens: we sold every rose we had and the gardens raised over $240,000!!!!

The meeting ended with the society President readin a poem, “Ode to the Rose Exhibitor”

It was a good meeting.
