>Was up early today to prune my roses for fall. I removed all twiggy growth and any dead canes. I then cut back other canes about 1/3 of their size, being careful to make my cuts just above an outward facing bud eye. This will allow the plant to produce a new rose that grows outward away from the center of the bush. I will fertilize tomorrow and spray for black spot. This procedure in August will produce some fine looking blooms during the cooler days of October.
