Christopher R. VanCleave – America’s Favorite Rose Gardener Nicknamed "The Redneck Rosarian”, Chris VanCleave is passionate about gardening and growing roses. He is an active member of the Birmingham chapter of the American Rose Society, serving two terms as President.     >outstanding. congratulations. I know nothing about roses. I know about hosta and ligularia. We have a sunny front yard that dries out in the summer. what do you think about a bushy rose plant that has small flowers (if there is such a thing)? We do not fertilize except for sweet peet and do not use chemical sprays, except for soapy water.

  3. >Rosey – Awww Thanks! I knew that Napolean would come through for me one day!!!!!Jim, Depending on your color preference, you might try one of the knockout roses available. The Red knockout has done well for me with little or no care. You might also try "earth kind" roses. They are field tested by Texas A and M to be roses that thrive on neglect….. check them out at: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/earthkind/roses/varieties/
