Day 6 – National Rose Month

Tropicana Makes A Comeback

I have been quite worried about this rose. It holds a special place with me having been the rose that won for me my very first blue ribbon.

An early spring with rains and damp weather covered this rose in powdery mildew top to bottom. Sprays and all the conventional methods exhausted, I made a radical move. I pruned it down to about 10″ from the root ball and then sprayed it with fungicide.

This method apparently worked! This rose has bounced back! I am now seeing some blooms and they are disease free!
