Day 9 – National Rose Month

'Our Lady of Guadalupe' floribunda

“Our Lady Of Guadalupe” – Floribunda is a new rose this year in my garden. It is said that the Archdiocese of Los Angeles blessed this rose upon its introduction. This rose is named for the blessed virgin who appeared to a peasant in 1531 and told him a church should be built on the spot. He took roses to the local Bishop as proof of the vision and the church was built, thus expanding the realm of the Catholic faith.

I like this rose so much, I acquired 3 shrubs of it and planted them together in a 1′ x 6′ raised bed in the hopes they would form a shrub of blessed roses!
