Well, It’s day 30 of National Rose Month and so draws to a close my daily posting of roses in honor of this occasion. I hope you have been inspired by the photos. Inspired in such a way that you will plant a new variety to add to your collection or maybe plant a rose in your garden for the very first time. If you are otherwise an admirer of the rose, I hope you will paint, photograph or create art that will use your talents to promote rose culture in your community.
The American Rose Society and my local rose society Birmingham Rose Society have been good friends to me. They have encouraged me when I didn’t think I could, helped me when I needed it and applauded me when I produced blooms of excellence. They have encouraged me so much so, this past Monday, they elected me to serve as this year’s President of the Birmingham Rose Society.
Rose Societies are about two things: People & Roses. Societies need both to survive. I hope you will take the time to seek out your local rose society. Here is a link to a few around the U.S. Attend a meeting, be encouraged and get inspired to grow! LOCAL ROSE SOCIETIES

Christopher R. VanCleave – America’s Favorite Rose Gardener
Nicknamed "The Redneck Rosarian”, Chris VanCleave is passionate about gardening and growing roses. He is an active member of the Birmingham chapter of the American Rose Society, serving two terms as President. In 2007, he created the Rose Chat Podcast which has reached over a half a million listeners with news and information on growing on growing the world’s most beloved flower, the rose.

Thanks Lisa. That head was done by a dear friend of mine. She did several as centerpieces for a luncheon for Mental Health Month in Birmingham. “Heads Up Alabama” was the theme!
