Autumn Blooms – ‘Queen Elizabeth’ Grandiflora

Autumn has finally arrived in our Alabama garden. Cooler temps and moderate rainfall seems to put our roses back in “grow” mode and we are beginning to see some spectacular fall blooms.  We have 4 shrubs of ‘Queen Elizabeth’ grandiflora growing in our garden. Like most grandifloras, they bloom best when allowed to grow tall, so we prune these high and they really put out the blooms at a height of about 3 1/2 to 4′ tall.  For some reason, the best colors of the year come with the fall flush of bloom and I can tell you they are a welcome friend indeed.

Gorgeous! I’ve never seen this bloom in person, but they do look spectacular in your pictures. I agree that the fall rose colors are ever more vibrant than in spring.

I think Queen Elizabeth is just the prettiest amongst the pink roses. I had one and it died so I am apprehensive about getting another one. It is just so lovely though that I may have to rethink this.
