As I was on my way out the door this morning, I was overjoyed to find the first bloom of the year in my rose garden. ‘Mary Rose’ a David Austin introduction is often said to be the first rose to bloom. I can now confirm that the rumors are true.

    • Thanks Stan. Did you get an email about the 2013 Calendar? I’m already looking at my pictures……

I sure did Chris. I sent some in already. It is tough to get any images on the calendar, worth a try though. I got some smaller space photos on there for 2012 but have yet to rate one of the main photo spots. Maybe in 2013??!!

Yes I did and sent some in to Beth. Hope I get one or two in the calendar. Have not heard a word about the ARS Photo contest. Hope I do not get snubbed for the 4th year in a row….

      • I have never been brave enough to enter the ARS competition. Although, some of the winners in the past have given me hope… 🙂

There are usually alot of entries. It takes way too long to find anything out though. You have to have photos entered by a certain date in November, then you do not hear or see anything until sometime in April or perhaps May. You hear nothing if you did not place. If I get snubbed again this year I probably will quit trying. It is a bit political too as some of the same folks that have been winners for years keep winning. That is okay if they are truly the best in their category but some of my friends have sent in better shots and did not even place in those categories. It is a true shame….

Nice shade of pink. I’ve discovered two buds on one of my roses today. Spring’s already here even if the calendar says it’s not yet here.
