Christopher R. VanCleave – America’s Favorite Rose Gardener Nicknamed "The Redneck Rosarian”, Chris VanCleave is passionate about gardening and growing roses. He is an active member of the Birmingham chapter of the American Rose Society, serving two terms as President. In 2007, he created the Rose Chat Podcast which has reached over a half a million listeners with news and information on growing on growing the world’s most beloved flower, the rose.     • So good to hear from you. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Steve provides great advice at Southern Living Magazine and I always enjoy reading his column . I have three crepe myrtles myself and every year the guy who does our landscaping murders them! We had a talk and hopefully mine won’t be desecrated again….

        It is a pity when a beautiful plant is not as good as it can be. They have wonderful examples of crape myrtle at Wave Hill in Riverdale, NY multi stemmed specimens old enough to have that beautiful bark in winter. Good luck with the myrtles, they are so beautiful and I like that they bloom during the heat of the summer when many things suffer.
