It was a great honor to have Lucas Jack on Rose Chat Radio yesterday. He is the Rosarian at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. This magnificent private residence is the closest thing we American’s have to Downton Abbey and the home and gardens are spectacular. Though you might not find the Dowager Countess lurking about, you will find a home and gardens fit for the aristocracy. It is well worth a visit.
Famed landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmsted designed the gardens at Biltmore and they are pretty much in tact as he designed them. Lucas shared some awesome information about the history of the gardens (yes, Mrs. Vanderbilt loved roses!) at Biltmore and also offered some excellent advice on caring for roses and handling various pest and disease issues. I hope you’ll take time to listen to this broadcast.
