When I first heard of the world’s largest rose, I imagined a 10 foot climber behind some saintly rose matron’s garden gate, but certainly not a colossal rose spanning an area equal to 9,000 square feet, projecting millions of blooms each spring. That’s right millions. This “Lady Banks” rose grows in Tuscon Arizona at the Rose Tree Museum and Book Shop and is cared for by a rather saintly rose matron Dorothy Devere. Our friends Lisa Smith and Nancy Reid; a mother-daughter team who host Big Blend Radio on BlogTalkRadio have embarked upon the Spirit of America Tour. It is a multi year effort to visit every single national park in the United States. They have partnered with my weekly podcast, Rose Chat Radio and will be doing a series of special reports on Roses as they traverse the country. The first of these reports was with Ms. Devere. We caught up with Nancy & Lisa tonight on a special broadcast of Rose Chat Radio. It was great to hear about their trip and about this awesome rose!

I’ve got this on my bucket list. Just to sit for an hour under this rose in full bloom would be heavenly, don’t you think?
