Don’t get me wrong, the first blooms of spring are met with great anticipation but the most beautiful blooms of the year are our fall blooms. The colors more vibrant, the blooms almost reach a state of perfection. Here are a few of the roses that are really putting on a show in the garden this fall:

OSO Happy Smoothie – Proven Winners Rose

Francis Meilland – Hybrid Tea

Belinda’s Dream
All of these are no spray roses and have performed exceptionally in our humid conditions.
Are your fall blooms the most magnificent of the year?

I noticed yesterday that TINY is forming minute buds now! She rested a while, yet surprise! Remember TINY?? Even scraggly Sunny is showing a few fresh blooms!

Yes – some of ours are at their best in October too. I wonder why. Do they prefer the cooler weather? Not that it gets too warm in Scotland over summer…

My Knockout Roses are blooming in abundance now that fall has arrived. This summer they battled beetles and bugs of all sorts. After using Sevindust every few weeks, the diseased, and eaten leaves came back healthy and stronger than ever. I have even gotten a half dozen or more red roses on the pink bush. I love surprises!!!

My roses’ fall display amazed me. I just moved to Oregon from Alaska, and I’m new to growing roses in any climate. I kept expecting them to die off, but they just kept getting better! I’ve stopped deadheading now, to encourage them to go dormant for winter. I hope this is the right approach.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. Yes, you are correct to stop deadheading to help encourage roses to set hips and go dormant. Happy Gardening!
