My favorite Christmas memory is our first Christmas as parents. Our oldest was born between Thanksgiving and Christmas so we didn’t have time as parents to a newborn to buy presents. We spent the day being amazed at him and enjoying time with family that did all the cooking for us.

Oh, my favorite Christmas memory is of my first gray kitty named Pancake…He loved to watch TV (by touching the screen) and climbed the Christmas tree when we were all asleep. I would hear the ornaments jingling and think Santa was indeed about the house.

My favorite memory is watching my daddy put together bicycles and toys for my little brothers. He died exactly 50 years ago at age 53 and I can see that memory still today. He loved Christmas

Thanks for this post. I look forward to finding the hose and the finger weed helper! Favorite Christmas memory: the year my husband proposed and gave me my engagement ring on Christmas morning. I was a young woman grown up poor, and suddenly I was staying at his house, his family the first in their neighborhood to have a color television. I opened the small ring box and said, “Ohmygod!” Was I embarrassed to have blurted out such a thing. 46 years ago this Christmas. Thanks for the opportunity to remember and smile.

Christmas Eve at the Cathedral Church of the Advent!

My favorite Christmas memory is from my childhood. My Grandfather on my Dad’s side had been in the hospital for a long while due to a bad fall and then illness. It did not look like he would be able to get out to join us for our family Christmas get together. That made my Mom and Dad, Grandmother sad. They tried to smile for my siblings and I but I knew their hearts were sad. So I did as I had been taught in times of such need. I prayed and asked God to touch my Grandfather and heal him up so that he could be with us on Christmas. On Christmas Eve a phone call came from my Grandmother and my Dad’s face lit up. He and my mother were both smiling so I knew it was good news. They would not tell us what the call was about. On Christmas day my Dad went to pick up my Grandmother to bring her out to the farm to have Christmas with us. When he got back my Grandfather was in the car too!! My heart danced! I went out to help my Dad get Grandpa into the house and gave him a big hug. He was obviously weak but had a big smile on his face then and all that day long. I had to take a minute to go and say a prayer of thanks for my special Christmas Gift of course. Those kinds of gifts are far better than any other gift we can possibly receive. May each of you reading this be blessed with such a special gift this season.

I really cherish the memories of baking with my grandmother during the Christmas season. I employ the help of my daughter every year to help me make her award winning fruitcake to keep her memory alive

My favorite Christmas memory was my son’s first Christmas. He was born on Halloween, but was a big baby and grew fast! I was a single Mom. We spent the holidays with my family and they went all out to make it the best Christmas ever! I shopped with Dad on Christmas Eve for Mom’s gift, as was our tradition. Mom made her infamous fruitcake, cookies, and a table full of goodies to feast on. We sat by the fire together and awaited Santa’s visit. I felt so blessed!

My favorite Christmas memory was when I lived in Virginia, I was able to prepare all of my vegetable sides from items grown in the garden from the prior summer. My daughter’s enjoyed the Brussel sprouts, collard greens and sweet potatoes that we harvested together. It was the first time they could see farm to table in action. Such a fantabulous memory! As adults now, they still appreciate organically grown harvests.

The year I played with an orange and a walnut from my stocking all day and ignored the presents under the tree. Growing up poor, I think I must have been overwhelmed.

My favorite Christmas memory was when Santa brought our 3 girls a Golden Retriever puppy named Copper. He was in a big box with a large red ribbon. The box started making noises and Copper popped out.

Favorite Christmas memory.
My parents always taught us if you have enough you have some to share.
My parents learned of a family that would not have Christmas and quickly gathered a basket of food for a Christmas dinner. We quietly approached their home and left the basket on the doorstep. My dad rang the doorbell and returned to the car that was parked away from the home. We watched as the mom came to the door to discover the basket. She never knew who left it.

My favorite Christmas memory is finding my parents putting out Santa stuff for us kids. I cried when I found out there was no Santa, but my parents let me help and I felt like a big girl💁🏼

A favorite Christmas memory is when our son commented on Santa’s and my handwriting were the same. Yes that is call being caught ‘red handed’.

A favorite Christmas memory from my childhood is of gathering with my extended family at my grandparents home every Christmas Eve before going to church around 11 pm. My grandmother had an amazing assortment of food including shrimp cocktail(which we only got to eat at this time of the year) and then all sorts of sweets including fudge, pralines, divinity, and dark & white fruitcake. Also while we were all together, my siblings and cousins put on a show for the family. We sang and performed Christmas carols. Over the years, several of us played the piano and the flute. My grandparents made a big deal out of it and told us how much they loved our performances!

My favorite Christmas memory was one year my parents did all my presents as a scavenger hunt. So each time I found a present based on their clues to hidden presents around the house, it in the end led to one big giant present. I don’t even remember the presents, just the hunt and how much fun that was!

We moved to the States from UK, and my favorite Christmas has to be when we surprised our daughter with her grandparents visiting for Christmas. It’s a difficult time to be away from everyone, and she cried with happiness when we picked them up from the airport that Christmas Eve. So did they.

One very special Christmas was the day my youngest brother was born in Fort Hood, Texas. My other brother and I stayed home alone and didn’t open any presents until Dad came home later that day. That was a lot of will power for an 8 and 7 year old. Home alone on Christmas day. 🙂
