For Fragrance & Color – “Double Delight”

I had to replace my shrub of Double Delight last year and have been anxious to see blooms from the replacement I planted this spring. Finally, a bloom.  Not only does this rose produce a beautiful colorful bloom, it is highly fragrant. By that, I mean you can cut a stem and bring it inside and it will fill the room with fragrance.

Double Delight – Hybrid Tea

Double Delight – Hybrid Tea

Introduced in 1976, this rose was an AARS Winner in 1977. It currently holds an ARS rating of 8.3

If I had room, i would grow at least six of these. Do you grow this rose? What experience have you had with it?

We have two Double Delight bushes in our garden, and both are doing well. If I had to pick a single all-time favorite rose, Double Delight would be it.

From my experience in my last garden it was a rose that would sleep the first year, creep the second year and leap the third year.

  4. One of the few hybrid teas I grow, and I love it! My current bush is own root and hanging on despite the drought and being moved early this spring.

  5. Double Delight is well named! It’s fairly disease resistant for me here in the Pacific Northwest where black spot seems to be the state flower.

What gorgeous blooms Chris. I love Double Delight and its changing colored petals. It is like Scentimental in like no two blooms are ever the same. Beautiful pictures!
