>Rose Insanity and The Birmingham Rose Show

>Ok, ok. I stopped at Lowe’s again this morning to purchased 4 more roses!

1 Caldwell Pink.
I now have 3. They will be planted around our gas lamp out front.

3 Sunny Knockouts.
I have not had good reports on this rose. I hear they have some blackspot issues, and have not measured up to their sister plants. Now, I get to find out for myself.

When I told some people at work, someone whispered behind my back, “rose whore”. I just smiled and walked on… I also crossed her off my bloom list…. (just kidding). Have I totally jumped over into rose insanity? I think maybe, yes.

I am taking Friday off to help set up for the 58th Annual Birmingham Rose Show. I might have a bloom or two to enter in the show and may try an arrangement. Not so that I would win a ribbon, but so that people can see all the different types of roses their are. Last year, we had over 400 varieties on display, it is truly something to see. If you are in the Birmingham area, I hope you will stop by and say hey. I will be there all weekend, either inside at the show, or outside giving tours of the the stunning Dunn Formal Rose garden which boasts over 1,600 roses in full bloom this weekend. The show is held each year at the Birmingham Botainical Gardens. The Birmingham News ran a nice article about the show last weekend. You can check it out here
